Woodward & Company

BRANDING / STRATEGY /  WEB DESIGN / copywriting / CONTENT DEVELOPMENT / video & sound design / PHOTOGRAPHY BY TROY MOTH

We were honored to be called on by Woodward and Company to assist with their re-branding that would coincide with their recent, history-making legal win in the Supreme Court of Canada. We developed a brand that returned the firm back to its roots and ensured their 20 year commitment to fighting for First Nations rights was given its due.

LOGO & POSITIONING

The legal industry is uniquely homogeneous in its representation. While there are endless ways to develop a distinguished identity, we took our cue from the firm's most important point of difference - its relationship with the Tsilhqot'in Nation for whom they achieved a landmark legal victory.  The logo, fonts and suite of brand graphics displayed the time-worn wood carved aesthetic and dramatic color palate found in traditional First Nations carvings. The new brand was launched with a powerful new line for their cause, "First Nations First".

PHOTOGRAPHY

Working for a great cause brings out the best. In our search to build a library of unique, brand images to roll out the Woodward and Company epic, we worked with friend and renowned Canadian photographer, Troy Moth who made his archives available to support the cause.

WEB DESIGN & CONTENT DEVELOPMENT

Developing the new Woodward and Company web presence was an exercise in the best kind of story telling – long form. Our research and content development process had us traveling right to the source to collect video, photography and audio recordings of first-hand accounts to enrich the online record and provide an educational resource for future First Nations preparing to follow in the same footsteps.
