Terroir refers to the conditions in which something is grown or produced and that give the it its unique characteristics. Having successfully trademarked the term "Terroir" within Australia, when the premium tea trend hit Melbourne, Terroir Tea Merchant was ready. But bringing the fundamentals of wine appreciations to tea required some sensory education and we made that the focus for Terroir's strategic brand positioning.
The hot-air balloon and teacup icon paired with the line "Heighten the Senses" reminds Terroir customers to educate themselves in order to fully appreciate this premium product and enjoy the adventure of trying others from diverse terroirs.
Package & Product Design
The utility labelling system was designed to accommodate an potentially limitless range of teas with a few simple stamps and hole punches and embossing seals resulting in a finished product with the tone and manner of a traveller's passport.
RETAIL CONCEPT & DESIGN
The website followed suit providing fullscreen, macro photography of the product to highlight the subtle variations in color and texture. The e-commerce experience was designed to function as both a high end supplier to tea afficienados and a comprehensive educational resource to the newbie.
